I look forward to the Readers’ Favorite awards every year, mostly because I usually have a book competing in it. Two years ago, I attended the awards presentation in Miami and walked away with two gold medals, one for the Game of War and the other for the Child of Chaos. That was an amazing time.
While I’m so glad Readers’ Favorite responded to my books that way, I think they might have had an edge because they were both series starters–which is to say that neither of them required readers to have read other books before them. I was worried that future books in the series might have a tougher time competing.
Indeed, I suspected this was true when the House of Prophecy won nothing in the 2023 Readers’ Favorite. Perhaps that year was just amazingly competitive, or maybe my theory was panning out. Regardless, I decided to try once more with the Realm of Gods–especially because I considered this my best book yet.
Two days ago, RF announced their winners and the Realm of Gods captured a silver medal. While I would have loved to get gold again, I think silver is an outstanding award for a late-in-the-series novel with fully three books before it. While it’s not quite enough to convince me to attend this year’s ceremony, I’m quite proud of its achievement nonetheless.
Now I’ll look forward to the other competitions later this year and even into next. Heck, the SERIES is competing as a whole in the 2024 CIBAs!
I can’t wait!
