I knew it.
Even when I first announced the project, just as I was starting to outline it, I knew that “Secret of the Dreaming” wouldn’t last as the title of my upcoming novel. It wasn’t that it actively fought my the X of Y title structure (although it did), it was mostly that it didn’t convey the enormity and danger of what was actually happening.
Now that I’m deep into writing it, I realized that it needed something more hard-hitting.
The Chains of Fate.
I like it, and it seems to have landed well with the fans. Also, it fits seamlessly into the list.
The Game of War
The Child of Chaos
The House of Prophecy
The Realm of Gods
The Wrath of Order
The Chains of Fate
And once you understand the story, you’ll get why I went here (and it’s not a fascination with chains, as one reviewer speculated).
Miblart Book Cover Design already has the new title and sketches to begin work on the cover. It’s going to be dark and amazing.
As for my ongoing work, I’ve not only outlined this book, but the most important element of the next: the end. It’s overwhelming but inevitable and crazy and exactly the right finale for this trilogy.
I can’t wait to get you there.
